Colman Burks

Musician, Composer, Producer, Booking


Colman Burks is a 21 year old Drummer, Composer, and Producer currently living in Denton TX with his wife Amanda. Colman attends the University of North Texas where he is finishing his third year in the Grammy nominated One O’Clock Lab Band. In high school Colman participated in All State Jazz (3x), Essentially Ellington (2x), NYO Jazz, Vail Jazz, the Next Gen. band at the Monterey Jazz festival, and won several downbeat awards. As a composer Colman’s works can be heard on TV, such as Ralph Lauren Fragrance's 2023 Christmas ad as well as Harry Winston's. As a performer/educator, Colman has collaborated with The Richardson Symphony, Irving Symphony, Shelly Carrol, Pete Clagett, The Woodlands High School, Naaman Forest high school, Rockwall-Heath High School, and UT Tyler. Colman has also performed many private events, weddings, and public concerts with his own Trio and Jazz Orchestra. Through UNT/The One O'Clock Lab Band, Colman has had the oppurtunity to perform with artists such as: Arturo Sandoval, Wycliffe Gordon, Kurt Elling, Miguel Zenon, Michael League, Helen Sung, Ben Patterson, Sarah Jacovino. As well as tour throughout Texas, Florida and Washington.

  • NYO Jazz 2021 by Carnegie Hall, Directed by Sean Jones

  • Essentially Ellington 2020/2021 Outstanding Drummer/Outstanding Rhythm Section

  • 7 Downbeat Student Awards in High School

  • 2020 Vail Jazz All-Star Sextet.
